Verbal Habits of Deceptive People - Statement Structures 4: Protest Statements. Instead of trying to put you on the defensive, a liar using a protest statement will respond to questioning by reminding the interviewer that nothing about their track record indicates that they are capable of deceit. E.g. "I'm a mother of 3 children, give blood, go to church every week, and love animals. I don't understand why you're asking me these questions..."
