Did You Know? The "two finger salute" - also known as "The Longbowman Salute" - originated during the Hundred Year War around 1415. According to historians, whenever the French captured the English and Welsh longbowmen, they would cut off their "bow fingers" so they could no longer use a longbow. The two finger salute became a gesture indicating that the English and Welsh still had their bow fingers.
